Goodreads Summary

Falling for your boss is never a good idea—especially if he’s emotionally unavailable…

Kyra Wilson is an average woman with a typical job. Her boss, on the other hand, is anything but average. Paul Connors is handsome, wealthy, and has massive sex appeal to boot. After some mutual flirtation, Kyra makes a move to change their work relationship to something more.

All goes as planned, until Paul makes his stance on relationships clear…

After a few hot encounters between the sheets, Kyra is ready to take it to the next level. But Paul refuses to commit—and won’t say why. Settling on ‘friends with benefits,’ Kyra is happy to make the most of Paul’s body in the hope she can change his mind.

But when a handsome stranger comes along, Kyra is swept off her feet…

Kyra meets her best friend’s soon to be brother-in-law, Scott Adams. Tall, dark, handsome—and monogamous—he is everything she wants, and more. Engulfed with the desire to settle down, Kyra falls fast and hard. Still, she struggles to cast aside her lust for Paul so she can completely focus on her future with Scott.

As always, nothing is as perfect as it seems…

When wicked secrets are exposed, Kyra dangles between the two men. With her future on the line, Kyra closes the door on her past and accepts Scott’s invitation to live together.

It doesn’t take long for a trio of tragedies to leave Kyra clutching onto her sanity, and relying on the one person she only ever dreamed of…

Review

This is going to be a relatively short review and this is because I just had one problem with the book. One problem which lead to many many problems. Said problem is that I truly did not like the ending of the book.

I honestly felt like the author wanted to create more drama to keep the momentum going and make the book more enticing but doing so only made the ending really messy and made the plot lose focus on what really matters which was the relationship between Kyra and Paul and how were they going to resolve the complications in their relationship to truly be together. I felt like the author didn’t know how to address the solution to the problem in said relationship and thus made a new drama for the reader to be distracted by because towards the end when Paul finally confronted the person causing these problems/complications it ended very anticlimactically.

Like, once said person and Paul talked it out it was all okay and everything is fine and dandy and I as the reader start to think really? I read all those pages of which Paul and Kyra cannot be together because of said complication and said complication can be resolved within 3 pages had Paul just had some balls and actually talked it out with said person? Do you know how annoying that is especially after reading the inappropriately added sub-plot? I was so hoping that the complication would at least be resolved in a bombastic manner to make up for the sub-plot fiasco but alas I was left severely disappointed and to think had the ending not been messy and all over the place I was going to give this book a 5 rating.

Nonetheless, the first half of the book is a great read and I loved how Ash (Kyra’s brother) is gay and how his relationship with Ben is portrayed as nothing but normal.

You know what if the sub-plot ending really had to be put into the book at least put it in the second one so all the emotional upheaval and trauma can be truly explained into detail to let the reader really feel and empathize with the main character so at least the reader aka ME won’t feel like towards the end it was just a whole dump of unnecessary drama which I might add did not do any justice to the earlier plot lines.

Okay, after saying all that I must say that this has not in the slightest deterred me from reading more by the author because hey I liked the first half of the book who knows maybe in other works I will actually like the whole book.

This is the second time I wrote this review because the first one was full of spoilers and I really do mean it was full to the brim with spoilers but this one it was just a teeny bit of spoilers.

Anyhoots, I would like to thank Books Go Social for giving me a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
